Relatability
First of all, Thank you for the feedback on the last post, I really appreciate you guys taking the time and moreover sharing your point of view regarding it. These blog posts being a conversation starter is something close to what I actually try to achieve through them!
Writing about my anger or confusion about how I feel about people just imposing their views on others and believing what they think is a fact rather a view got me thinking more about how some people who messaged did relate to the words but though nobody, in particular, messaged me anything against it, it made me think about how relatability plays a big role when it comes to such things.
Let's be honest, I am sure not everyone likes this blog, some people probably read like a post and formed an opinion and never opened any other post. I myself sometimes I just skip through people's Instagram stories because I'm either not in a mood or just don't agree with whatever they post (or maybe they're just annoying :D )
But isn't it amazing how different people relate to different things? Like how sometimes you'd just see a youtube video and go all like, "WTF, that's so me!", read something and realize how your thinking resonates so much with the writer, listen to a song and just feel like the lyrics are calling out to you or how strongly they remind you of someone/something and it's almost unreal how such things are just spot on to how we think, who we are, and what we feel.
Maybe it's more about how we as individuals feel like we are hard to understand, yes we do have friends and family and we talk to people but I believe deep inside there's still this feeling that nobody really gets us, you know?!
But then you experience such things and it makes you emote. It makes you feel belonged in a strange way. as if some can almost listen to you without actually hearing you in comparison to when you might actually scream in front of some people and they'd still fail to understand.
Where some things make you feel good to your soul, there would be things that would make you clear more about what you hate or dislike. It makes you understand yourself better as to what kind of music or movie genre you dislike or what makes you unhappy or makes you feel even more alienated so as to avoid indulging yourself in it and just not be uncomfortable being around people.
And what do we do with all this information and knowledge about ourselves? I believe we use this in order to have conversations and build bonds with other people (or not), it helps to understand other people better too, you know like how we are always judging people based on what kind of tv series they like, stereotyping a person as emotional if they're too into romcoms or weak if they avoid watching horror movies.
Sometimes, I see some group of friends or couples in relationships and if I do know them personally, I do sometimes feel that oh, they don't seem to have anything in common, I mean obviously, they know it better and there's a real difference between what people show who they are and what they really are but you know what I mean!! Some people prefer being in relationships with someone who is like them because of the relatability factor and some people prefer someone who is more different than they are as to get a different perspective and I don't know ... maybe to grow more. ( I don't know I have been single since forever, guess it's something I can't relate with, teehee.)
Is relatability a factor that makes us behave differently with different people? It can't be just me who is different with different sets of friends?!!! And does that make one deem 'fake' or unauthentic?
Is it possible to stay friends with people who have really contrary views and interests? Sure there are some people who must be the same wherever they go and whoever they go with and I envy those people very very much. But I always think about how we are constantly growing and learning new things and maybe people who we used to think are similar to us are not anymore and rather quite the opposite. What do you do in those situations?
And what about the references people use while having conversations? Like I always get lost whenever someone starts talking about the whole Marvel/DC universe and sometimes it's just irritating when you quote something from somewhere hoping people would understand it but they don't. Situations where you are being sarcastic but the other person doesn't really get it and rather thinks you're dumb or stupid when they are the ones who are actually stupid not to understand the humor in the first place!!! And I understand that it's practically impossible to have a setting where you would have all your friends watching, listening, reading the same stuff but what good is it to try fit in situations where nobody really understands you and vice-versa. Maybe being different is what connects people and actually makes them grow or otherwise, you'll always be stuck with your own thoughts. YOU SEE THIS ENDLESS LOOP? Kinda makes me sad about how I over-analyze stuff but happy to live up to my indecisive and ambivalent nature.
Anyway, What do you think? How much do you Relate?! Let me know.
Ok.Bye.
